Jen’s Whole40 Lent Challenge – Day 1

That video was created before I even started touching these:

1″ Ginger Root
1 Lemon, squeezed

Purple Bottle:
750mL Distilled Water
1/2 tsp Sea Salt
1/2 Lemon, squeezed

Blue Bottle:
750mL Tap Water
1/2 Lime, Squeezed
1/3 Grapefruit, Squeezed

Red Beet Juice:
6oz Beet Juice
1 Orange
1 1/2″ Ginger Root

I don’t have a juicer, so I am using a NutriBullet. I understand that juicing takes out ALL of the fiber. For some people, that may be ideal. However, I am incredibly active (8-12 hours each week of running, boxing, weight lifting), and therefore just using juice without the fibrous pulp can be a little more dangerous for a person of that activity level.

I’m not by any means an ambassador for the NutriBullet, but the product description attracted me.

Nutrient Extraction is the mechanism the NutriBullet uses to break down fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and other plant foods down to their most absorbable state. Unlike juicers and blenders, NutriBullet nutrient extractors break down the cell walls of fibrous plant foods, releasing important vitamins and minerals contained within. At the same time, they reduce beneficial fiber, pulp, seeds, and skins into a smooth-as-silk texture, delivering food to your body in an easily digestible, easily absorbable form. More than juicing, more than blending, and more than chewing, nutrient extraction allows you to receive the highest degree of nutrition your food has to offer.
